3 Reasons to Email Your List

In the world of online marketing, we talk about email lists all the time. But if you're not an online business, or if most of your revenue comes from offline sources, you might be wondering why you should email the people who've given you their email address.

If you're struggling with what to say in an email, here are 3 reasons you should email your list.

3 reasons to email your list
The other day I walked into my local cigar shop to work and enjoy a Maduro. Afterward, a few of “the guys” and I went out to dinner. While we were eating, one of my new friends mentioned that the store had an email list where cigar aficionados shared about upcoming events in the area.

Wait, what? There's an email list?

How do I sign up for that?

If you have a business and you don't have a way for people to sign up for your email list, you're doing your community a disservice and you're hurting your business.

Speaking of which, Click Here to Join the Community and Get Emails From Me.

So, to help you come up with ideas to email your list about, or reasons you need to sit down and email your community, I've come up with a few reasons to share with you.

Reason #1 to Email Your List

New Product Launches

Have you ever released a new product and wondered why nobody was lining up to buy it?

That's probably because you didn't email your list to tell people about it.

Product launches are perfect reasons to email your list. After you've put so much time, energy, and effort into creating and designing your product, don't let your efforts fall flat by releasing your product in silence.

Every time you launch a new product, update an old one, or develop a new service, email your list about it.

Reason #2 to Email Your List

Upcoming Events

Whenever there's an opportunity to get your community together, you should take it.

When we connect with other people we create memories. When we create memories, we take pictures. When we take pictures, we like to share them on social media. And, when people share the photos they took at your event, you get free publicity!

Not only do you get free advertising when people create buzz around your events, but you also become the guy, gal, or business that shared an amazing event with that person. Don't just email your list about your events, email your list about events they might be interested in attending. Invite them to join you for dinner, drinks, snacks, a raffle, or whatever, before or after the event.

Creating a community around your brand is one of the best things you can do for your business, so email your list about upcoming events.

Reason #3 to Email Your List

Updates and Improvements

Do you bring in speakers to train your team? Do you go to conferences to learn how to improve your skills? Do you update your products with new technology?

If you've done anything to help you deliver a better product or service in your business, you've had a reason to email your list.

Let's say, for example, that to appease your sales team who will be logging long hours, you brought in a team of massage therapists to give free ten minute massages to anyone who wanted one.

What type of email could you send to your list around that?

If it were me, I'd email my list and tell them that in preparation for our new product launch, we'd brought in masseuses to give our team massages. Now, when the customer calls in, they know they'll get the happiest and most alert sales rep ever. Oh, and by the way, we've got extended office hours so we can take all of the calls about the new product.

How does that sound? Do you think you could use these ideas to come up with your own reasons to email your list?

In short, every email you send to your subscribers is an opportunity to connect with your community and build relationships.
