Announcing my Personal Branding Toolkit!
Whenever you meet someone new, what is one of the first things that you do? If you're like me, you either check them out on Facebook or look them up on LinkedIn. Whether you realize it or not, the people you come in contact with are searching for you as well. Whether they're trying to get your picture and see what your look like so they can find you in a crowded room, or trying to get the scoop on your background, people are searching for you online.
To help you create and develop your online profile, I've created my Personal Branding Toolkit! Your Personal Brand is like your reputation. Developed properly, it can be one of your greatest assets!
With a little work, you can create a Personal Brand that you can be proud of when people find it online. It's not a question of IF someone will search for you, it's a matter of WHEN.
Sometimes you have to make a very quick first impression; people make snap judgments all the time. That is why developing your personal brand is so important – it could be the first impression you might not get to make in person.
What is a Personal Brand?
Your personal brand is the image or idea that someone gets in his or her mind when they see you, hear your name, or see your picture. It is the mental picture people associate with your physical self.
Why is a Personal Brand important?
It is important because it can either work for or against you. Depending on how intentional you are about creating your brand, it can be a door opener or a door closer. If you were about to hire someone and searched for them online, but didn't like what you found, would you still hire them? If you were about to apply to a job at a new company, but they were rated poorly by your peers online, would you still submit your resume?
