Episode 28 the Empowered Podcast features blogger, encourager, coach, trainer and inspiration, Amy Clover.
You'll hear how Amy suffered from severe depression but also how she pulled herself up and out of the darkness. Depression affects millions of people across the world. Amy shares her story and provides encouragement.
I want to empower you to overcome whatever obstacles are keeping you from a thriving life.
How Amy defines empowerment:
“It means taking responsibility for the life you want to live.”
What Amy and I talked about:
How did you empower yourself to make the changes necessary to get you to where you are today?
“A lot of trial and error. Every time I would start feeling good about it, I would get beaten down by some event that would happen. And it took me a really long time to realize, that that is just life. It's not a personal thing, it's not because I deserve it, it's just what happens in order for me to grow.”
What does a typical day look like for you?
“It has no structure whatsoever. My only structure is my two strong cups of coffee.”
What are you doing today that will keep you moving forward tomorrow?
“Remembering my intentions and refusing to dream small.”
Since you decided to face your fears and charge forward, what have you stopped doing?
“I used to self-medicate with drugs or alcohol; or I would get into relationships for all of the wrong reasons because I didn't feel that love for myself. I don't do those things anymore. If somebody is bringing me down or is overly negative, I don't hang out with that person any more. I have worked so hard for this mental state that I'm in now, that I will not let anyone take that away from me.”
How do you unwind and relax?
“I love reading. I just finished Gone Girl!”
What was the last movie you saw?
EPIC Question: What is one tip, or one piece of advice you can give people who are struggling with depression ?
“You are worthy of love and happiness no matter what you face and no matter what has happened in your life. Go out and do something. Make one goal for each day. Do something small and let it lead to bigger things.”
