EP76: Email Marketing for the Modern Entrepreneur
Episode 76 of the Empowered Podcast all about Email Marketing services you can use for your growing blog, podcast or business. Specifically, we take a deeper look at MailChimp, AWeber, and GetResponse.
When I first started, I used MailChimp. While it took me a few years, I realized I wanted to do more with my email marketing than they would allow me to do on a free plan. When I started researching where to go next, I found AWeber, GetResponse, Infusionsoft and a variety of other email marketing services available.
Today we look at a few of the most popular options and evaluate them against one another.

Just wanted to say MailChimp can actually easily do a custom thank you page [ https://blog.mailchimp.com/custom-redirect-urls-for-subscribe-form/ ] in addition the automation in the paid level is pretty awesome too. I’d recommend MailChimp over Aweber too. Great show.
Hi there, Ellory – thanks for the great episode! That said, have you tried Campaign Monitor? It’s a pretty different experience from these apps and may be of interest if you’re looking into autoresponders/automation. I work for Campaign Monitor and thought it could be worth a mention 🙂
Hey Ros, thanks for commenting =) I have looked, though briefly, at Campaign monitor. It looks very similar to what I’ve found with Get Response, but 2x the price at the entry level. And, 30% more than Aweber.
What I look for is A/B testing, easy to use email creators, and a wide breadth of integration options among a few other things.
While CM looks like a fine tool, it does appear to be more expensive (sometimes significantly) than some of the other tools I’ve tested.
That’s awesome, thanks for responding and letting me know what you’re looking for in an email service! I totally understand your price-sensitivity here and hope we can demonstrate better value to you at a later date 🙂
Hi Ellory – thank you for brilliant episode.
If you are looking for easy to use email creator you should give a chance to Freshmail.com. it’s free up to 2000 emails per month and has great responsive email templates.
