FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Ellory Wells headshot transparent

Who is Ellory Wells?

I'm a husband, business owner, writer, podcaster, entrepreneur and video game connoisseur. I'm also a brother and a music and movie lover. I'm introverted and get uncomfortable in groups larger than 5 people unless it's for a very short amount of time. I enjoy sitting out on my back porch, having a glass of wine and a cigar, and chatting about life.

Where did you learn about blogging, podcasting, and online business?

When I first started blogging, I had no idea what a blog was. Actually, I thought a blog was just an online diary where teenage girls would write about boyfriends, breakups, and their latest celebrity crushes. I learned about blogging while doing it. I made lots of mistakes but kept at it. I wasn't serious about turning it into a business until I'd been writing and podcasting for about 2 years. I learned a lot from watching YouTube videos and reading WordPress-related websites. I'd make changes to my site, often breaking something, and have to find out how to fix it. I didn't go to business school, but I learned about business while working in Corporate America.

What is your background?

I'm from a small town north of the Dallas-Fort Worth metroplex in North Texas. I studied psychology at Baylor University and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree. I got into psychology because I wanted to learn why people act why they do. I wanted to learn how people got the way they are. After graduating I was a substitute teacher, I sold investments and financial services, and then I worked at IBM and Dell where I was extremely successful at sales. Today I draw on experiences from all of these things to help me be a better mentor, coach, and salesperson.

Who do you typically work with?

I love working with aspiring entrepreneurs. I say “aspiring” because I love helping people figure things out and get moving in the right direction. I love working with people who know there's more to life than sitting in a cubicle. The people I can provide the most benefit for are the ones who aren't on step 1 but on steps 2 through 10. While I know the basics, I've found that most people need to filter through the weeds before they move too far forward. In a sense, we all need to crawl before we walk, and I love helping people walk then run.

How do you make money online?

I make money a few different ways, in both passive and active streams of income. I do 1×1 coaching where I help people achieve greater levels of success and help them get to the next level (however they see it). I host private mastermind groups which consist of 3-5 current or aspiring entrepreneurs. These are both active forms of income. I also sell ebooks, audiobooks, and training material for bloggers, podcasters and entrepreneurs via my online store. My Membership site for entrepreneurs is also available as a resource for anyone looking to build a business on the side. The store and the membership site are passive income and are perfect for people interested in going at a slower pace than they would with a mastermind group or 1×1 coaching.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have a few passions. I love movies, and a few TV shows (specifically action and science fiction). I love reading spy/thriller fiction as well as personal development books. I love video games and own most consoles. Occasionally I'll even boot up a copy of Age of Empires II to get my micro-managing fix.

Why are you so passionate about entrepreneurship? What happened to you?

I've been fired and laid off. I've learned first hand that you can get let go for doing everything you're told, as well as let go for a difference of opinion. I've stayed in jobs longer than planned because I believed management when they told me it'd get better. I've tried to climb the corporate ladder only to realize I didn't go to the right schools, I didn't have the right lifestyle, I hadn't worked at the right companies, and I was too old to get those things. Too many times I've found myself at the mercy of someone else and with my eggs in one basket. I've learned that there's just as much risk in trusting myself as there is trusting someone else and that at least I have my best interest in mind. I don't want anyone else to go to a job they hate or work for a boss that has it out for them, and I know entrepreneurship is the answer.

What if I buy something and don't like it? Can I return it?

In most cases, absolutely. Most of the products (ebooks, audiobooks, video training, etc.) in my store have a 30-day money back guarantee. I create all of my products myself from scratch and do everything I can to provide way more value than people expect. To date, I've never had to give a refund, and I've only had one person cancel their membership before their time was up. My coaching and mastermind programs do not offer a money-back guarantee because much of the emphasis is on you, the client, and depends on the actions you take both on and off of the coaching calls. Neither program offers refunds.

Do you have products I can purchase?

Sure do! Every ebook, training course, video tutorial or how-to guide I create is designed to help you get further faster. Especially if you're an entrepreneur! You can find ebooks, training material and full-length courses in my store, many of which you can get included with your membership. You can also apply for coaching or join my next mastermind if you want to really throw fuel on your fire!

Do you have free resources I can check out before I buy something?

Absolutely! In fact, 95% of what I create I give away for free. You can listen to 40+ hours of interviews, inspiration, product reviews and recommendations via my podcast (iTunes|Stitcher|RSS) for free. You can read my blog with over 350 posts and even get emails every week with my latest posts. And, since you asked, most of my clients read my blog or listened to my podcast before hiring me, so you're more than welcome to consume all the free content and resources you want! I also suggest you sign up for my emails because I send out info via email that I don't share anywhere else. Plus, if you need resources or want to know the tools I use, check out my resources page.

Do you have referrals or testimonials I can check out before hiring you?

Two things I love about owning my own business are A:) helping people achieve results, and B:) getting great feedback. The feedback I've received isn't all compiled and located on a single page; that would give you no context. The reviews I've received and the feedback I've gotten, in most cases, can be found on the page for each product. A good example is what people have said about my mastermind and my bestselling ebook for podcasters.

How can I stay connected with what you're doing?

While there are several ways you can connect with me, there is one way that is the absolute best – email. You can sign up at this link to get emails, tips, and updates from me. You can also follow me on Twitter and connect with me on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Can you speak at my event or to my team?

If I'm available, I'd love to! I've had the honor of speaking at Podcast Movement and Texas State University, and I'd be honored to speak to your team or at your event as well. You can find more information about having me speak on my speaking page.

What if I have a question not listed here?

Not a problem! You can click here to send me an email. I read every one personally and will respond (if needed) as quickly as I can.
