Gear I Use
Every time I see the work of someone new I want to know what gear they're using and what equipment they keep in their bag. If their quality is good, I want what they have so I can create great looking and sounding content as well!
My philosophy, in general, is to start small and cheap, then grow into the more expensive gear. That philosophy has served me well. However, I've learned that to get the best quality audio and video, sometimes the lower cost items need to be replaced by their more fully featured and high-end cousins.

Please understand that I use or have used products from each of these companies. I recommend them because they are helpful and useful, and because I've benefited from them in the past, not because I get a small commission for recommending them. Please only spend money on these products if you need them or believe they'll help you achieve your goals.
On this page you'll find the tools I use and carry with me. I've listed cameras, microphones, bags, computers and other “hard” items that you can pick up and start using immediately. If you're looking for software, apps, WordPress plugins and other resources I use in my business, click here.

Cameras
Point and Shoot: Nikon L820 (Affiliate Link)
I currently use a Nikon L820. I bought it for a vacation to the jungles of Costa Rica a few years and it works great most of the time. The L-series of Nikon point and shoot cameras have great zoom, a great price-point (around $200) and do a solid job outdoors.
The main drawback of the L820 is that it doesn't work too well in low-light situations. When you have plenty of light or are able to use the flash, this camera is fantastic. If you're shooting at night or when you can't use the flash, your photos may come out blurry.
Webcam: Logitech c920 (Affiliate Link)
The webcam I use is the Logitech c920. It films in 1080p and comes with software that allows you to record videos directly through your computer. I've had my c920 for a few years and there have been no webcams made to make me want to replace it.
