I’m Giving Away My Best Resource for New Entrepreneurs. Here’s How to Get It.
At the end of 2013, I was a super-successful sales person for Dell. I'd earned two trophies for excellence, I was hosting training for my teammates, and I was known as someone who could get things done.
At the beginning of 2014, I was fired by a guy who used to be my friend, and I was devastated. Like a lot of people, my identity was tied to my job, and now I didn't have it.
However, I discovered that hidden in most obstacles is an opportunity. So, I decided to shake it off, and turn my blog into a business.
After six months of anger, denial, and frustration, I decided to tell my story. In Exit Strategy, I share what went wrong, how I should have prepared, and what I did next to start my business.

As I just mentioned, I was promptly fired and escorted out of the building for taking a personal phone call on a company line. I made a mistake, and I paid for it.
After the drive home and talking to my wife, I had a decision to make.
OPTION 1: Dust of my resume and go begging for a job.
OPTION 2: Figure out how to start the business I'd been dreaming about for two and half years.
Fast forward to today, and I have a business that helps almost 10,000 entrepreneurs and business owners each month. Through my blog, podcast, YouTube channel and email, I get to influence and impact the lives of entrepreneurs around the world who want to start, build, or grow their businesses.
But there were lots of things that I had to learn to do along the way. To start my business, I had to learn:
- How to start a blog
- How to grow an email list
- How SEO worked (and what it was)
- How to leverage content marketing to sell products
- How to make money by recommending products I use every day
- And a lot more.
Starting a business is hard. You first need to lay the groundwork and build a solid foundation for future growth. You need to have a plan. You need products, services, and other things to sell.
And finding a source to learn all of these things can be difficult.
That's why I wrote Exit Strategy – to teach you how to start your business, create your first products, sign your first clients, and make money doing what you love. I wrote Exit Strategy to share the exact strategies and tactic you can use to transition from where you have to be to where you want to be.
But that's not all. Exit Strategy isn't just my story of how I transitioned from fired to free. It's not just about my mistakes and what I'd do differently.
Exit Strategy will teach you all of the things I wish I'd learned when I was first starting out. And, it teaches you things that are applicable to every business, no matter the stage or size, and how you can build something amazing.
Here are a few topics that you'll find in Exit Strategy that will help you start your business:
- Buying the right domain for your business
- Choosing a web hosting company that is both cost-effective and future proof
- How to design your website
- How to set up Google Analytics and the Facebook tracking pixel
- And how to tell your startup story in a way that attracts clients to your business
And, in addition to teaching you about logos and design, SEO (search engine optimization), and about the best software to build your online business, I'll show you how I've used content marketing to sell products, sign clients, and build a business I can operate from anywhere in the world.
But as I said, starting a business is hard, and there's a LOT of BAD advice out there about how to do it. You won't see me posing in front of fancy cars I don't actually own, and you won't find photos of me chilling on a beach while the passive income rolls in.
So, to help you make smart decisions about your business, in Exit Strategy I'll tell you the worst business building advice I've ever heard (and still hear often).
In Exit Strategy, you will learn:
- How to get more traffic to your website and business
- How to build your email list
- How to convert visitors into paying customers
- How to market and sell your products (and feel good about it)
- How to identify your ideal client by creating your customer avatar
