Having the Right Tools for Success

Having the Right Tools for Success

Next week my wife and I will be in the jungles of Costa Rica. While I'm gone, I have the awesome opportunity to share the talents of three of my friends, Paul, Dan and Jason. I've asked them to come up with stories to inspire, encourage and entertain you.

Each of these guys has their own definition and history with success. They each have different passions and goals, and I've brought them here to fill in for me. I'm so excited to share their stories with you!

But before I go, I want to share something with you that I've only shared with a few other people. I want to share with you the importance of having the right tools for success.

right tools for success

I took the photo above while Ashley and I were in the Bahamas. I'm pretty much hooked on technology and fun toys, so you see two things I “had to have” with me on our trip.

The first item, with the screen you can't even read, is our Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1. The second, the one proudly displaying a chapter from A Game of Thrones, is my Kindle.

One of those tools is designed for reading anywhere (including outside), and the other isn't.

I've saved this picture for over a year, waiting for the right time to share it. In each our lives, you and I have opportunities to choose the right tools – the tools for success, or to choose the wrong ones. If we go into life's challenges with the wrong tools, or if we face them unprepared, we will be as effective as my tablet was in the full Caribbean sun.

For example, here are a few tools for success you should keep at the ready

If you have all of these things in your toolbox, when you're faced with a challenge  or stress (as I was this week), you'll be able to take it head on. As you're looking to develop these tools for yourself, if I can help you in any way, will you let me know?

As you plan for next week, make sure to remember to check back on Monday to read Paul Sohn's story about living intentionally, Wednesday to see Dan Erickson share about defining success, and Friday to see how Jason Beaton made one decision that changed his life.

These are some great posts by some great guys! You do not want to miss one!

To make sure you don't miss out, will you click here and subscribe to my blog? I'll see you in a couple of weeks!

Question: What tools for success do you like to keep around? Will you share them with me?

  • Excellent points Ellory! Being prepared for trying times is very important. You need to put on your parachute before you jump out of the plane. Have a great trip.

Thank you! and thanks for stopping by and commenting, I really appreciate it! Luckily, we’re not parachuting into the jungle, ha.

I know that I’ve had to rely on my plan and my board of directors several times when I didn’t quite know what to do next. Having structure and support really helps when you’re flying blind.

Man, all these plane references and we’ll be in the air in 24 hours! Thank you for your comment!
